Good to know
- First use: your browser downloads the AI model once (about 80 MB, or about 125 MB when it runs on the graphics card). On computers it starts by itself after the page loads; on mobile data it waits until you start. After that it stays on your device.
- Speed: it depends on your device. In our tests on a computer without a graphics card, one photo took about 4 to 9 seconds, plus the one-time model download.
- Best results: photos with a clear subject: people, products, animals, cars.
- Limits: glass and transparent objects can fail, and fine hair or fur may keep a thin halo. Up to 20 photos at a time, each up to 50 MB and 100 megapixels. Editing tools: new backgrounds (colours, a blur of your photo or your own image), ready-made formats (square, profile photo, product photo and sticker) with an optional shadow and outline, and a brush to erase or restore parts of the cutout. There is no free-form cropping.

Is Alphelo really free?
Yes. There is no account, no credits, no watermark and no paid plan.
Are my photos uploaded?
No. The AI model runs inside your browser, on your own device. Your photo is never sent to a server, so we never see it.
Why is the first photo slower?
The first time, your browser downloads the AI model (about 80 MB on most devices, about 125 MB on computers that run it on the graphics card). On computers the download starts by itself once the page has loaded, so the model is often ready before you choose a photo. On phones it starts by itself only on Wi-Fi, when the browser can tell; on mobile data, with Data Saver on, or when the connection type is unknown (for example on iPhone), it waits until you touch the tool. The model is then kept on your device, so it does not need to be downloaded again, even after you close the page (unless you clear the site data in your browser).
What size is the result?
A PNG or JPG at the full resolution of your photo. On phones, tablets and computers with little memory, very large photos (over 16 megapixels) are scaled down so the browser does not run out of memory. On other computers the limit is 50 megapixels.
Which photos work best?
Photos with a clear subject: people, products, animals, cars. It can fail on glass and other transparent objects, and fine fur or hair may keep a thin halo from the original background.
Can I put a new background behind the subject?
Yes. After the background is removed, keep it transparent or choose white, light blue, grey, black, any colour you like, a blurred version of your original photo, or an image of your own. Your background image stays on your device too. Download the result as PNG or JPG. JPG cannot be transparent, so it needs a background.
Can I make a sticker for WhatsApp or Telegram?
Yes. Choose Sticker in Format and style. Alphelo makes a 512 × 512 px transparent image with an outline around the subject. Download the PNG for Telegram, or the WebP for WhatsApp: it is kept under 100 KB, the limit WhatsApp sets for stickers. Each app has its own steps to add your own stickers, so check them in the app.
Can I make a square photo for Instagram, a profile photo or a product photo?
Yes. In Format and style, choose Square for a 1080 × 1080 px image with the subject centred and alone, Profile photo for a square with extra margin so a round crop does not cut the subject, or Product photo for a 1600 × 1600 px image with a white background and a soft shadow under the subject. You can turn the shadow and the outline on or off for any format.
Can I make an ID or passport-style photo?
You can put the person on a plain white or light blue background, which many ID photos use. Alphelo does not crop to official sizes and does not check any official rules, so check the requirements where you will use the photo.
Can I process many photos at once?
Yes, up to 20 photos at a time (10 on devices with little memory). They are processed one after another on your device with the same background, and you can download each one or all of them in a ZIP file. There is no public API yet; one is being prepared, and you can join its waiting list on the API page.
Can I fix the edges by hand?
Yes. Open the editor and use the brush: Erase removes leftover background, Restore brings back parts of the original photo. You can zoom, change the brush size and softness, and undo. Painting needs a mouse, pen or touch screen.
Do I need to install an app?
No. Alphelo is a web page. Open it in a modern browser on your phone or computer.
